Al Shamil Engineering has been in the forefront of other engineering firms on issues of climate change. It was the first firm in the region to conduct studies on ground and surface water vulnerability and adaptation to climate change. It has provided consultation for the Country Driven Assessment of the Capacity Building Needs of Developing Countries within the UNFCC Process in 2000. This was a regional project covering Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen and Syria that aimed at capacity building in an effort to address climate change in these countries.

It has also offered consultations on issues of importance such as the restructuring of the irrigation sector in Saudi Arabia.

The firm served a number of local, regional and international, governmental and nongovernmental organizations in water resources quantity and quality monitoring, and EIA studies. These organizations include, but are not limited to, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Ministry of Environment, and private sector companies such as Jordan Cement Factories, Arab Potash Company, Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company, Hydrogen Peroxide Plant, and Petra Hitachi for Engineering Industries, Al Sham Cement Company, Khaldiyeh Industrial Group, and Al Rawafed Cement Company. Moreover, the firm has conducted many EIA studies for the governmental and private projects in Jordan, these studies are governed by the Jordanian laws, bylaws, standards and guidelines as well as the international standards when they are required.
